It was around 1988 when I met Team Expansion people. By that time I have heard something about Jesus Christ, but never felt the joy of being part of anything bigger than attending a catholic church on Fridays or Sundays (obliged) because my primary school was done with catholic priests...
In that occasion I saw many teens and the evangelist Douglas Hardman (one I like to thank for his commitment in preaching). I met some others who shared their food and friendship in a fast-food restaurant (?) and offered me a kind talk, their love and FOOD! (It was odd for me those days within my Venezuelan culture). Doug Hardman encouraged me to visit the church at Bello Monte (Caracas). I met my brother Jim Dye and his family. I developed a relationship with Jesus Christ by getting in CLOSE contact with a NEW WAY of Christians, those who were interested in PEOPLE´S NEEDS, sincere and not pushy with the message of the Lord.
So after being baptized, I started to work for the missioners there. David Lynn hired me to work for cleaning that house and I got extra money by translating their things into Spanish and helping conveying their ideas into my culture and church brochures.
I met Brent Lynn and Tom Powell and I started to work on La Dolorita church. That relationship gave me books from Tom´s library and 15 years later I started to preach the word of God in Las Tejerías, Edo Aragua, on my own and not seeking to make a church, but to plant God´s word in the mind of hears.
I´m thankful for those who made possible my conversion and others in Venezuela. I have moved to Colombia to scape Venezuelan political affairs (I hate that government of Chávez) and I plan to stay -here in Colombia- as long as God allows me to travel to Canada or Australia, just in case He helps me get some money to get a better housing since I left all my stuff, my sons and daughter, family, my piece of land and house, to avoid the sins and things I hate from that country I don´t like any longer.
Thanks to Team Expansion commission, supporters and money collaborators. To Douglas Hardman, Tom Powell (a friend I lost sight of), Eric Barry... and those who were engaged with His holy task over there.
My love and best wishes!
A.T.
